How Can We Find Hope In A Climate Of Injustice & Inequality?

In a world where injustices & the unequal distribution of resources have created  deep divisions,

we have become masters in the art of destruction. Is there another way forward? If so where do we begin?

Thomas is a peace activist and worked to highlight issues of social justice. He worked as a volunteer in refugee camps in  Zimbabwe during the civil  war in neighbouring Mozambique.

Refugee camps were set up along Zimbabwe’s eastern border to cope with the arrival of thousands of  people fleeing the conflict.

Thomas spent time in three of these camps, and observed that most of the occupants were women, children and  elderly men.

Based on his experiences there, as he observed the vulnerability of these people who are dependent

on aid for shelter, food and survival, he returned to Ireland and completed a Masters in Peace Studies.

He subsequently worked on the Peace and Reconciliation programme in NI which was launched in the

aftermath of the ceasefire. He is interested in exploring  alternatives to violence as a means of conflict resolution.

Thomas is also a keen sportsman; he played intercounty hurling for Waterford for six years.
