Grainne Doherty – “Resting in Winter’s Quiet Renewing: Waiting With Hope”

This interactive workshop was facilitated by Grainne Doherty, who travelled from Donegal to be with us.

“Wintering” often results in a loss of confidence, a disconnection with our unique giftedness, and sometimes an overall direction in our lives.

We were invited to reflect on our openness to “Wintering” by asking ourselves:

  • What do I enjoy about winter?
  • What do I fear/dislike about winter?
  • What challenges or obstacles have I faced in the past?
  • Where (if, at all) have I felt God’s presence at these times?

We were encouraged to consider the aspects of our lives that may need to be released or transformed to make room for our soul’s deepest desires and the mini-resurrections in our lives.

We can ask ourselves:

  • Are there any relationships or situations in my life that fail to serve me in a healthy way?
  • Is it time to let them go or re-imagine them?
  • Are there any burdens or regrets that I wish to let go of? If so, are there healing ways how this can be done?

“Wintering” can also be used as a time for anticipating the new.  Some suggested reflection questions:

  • Where might I be over-extending/compensating?
  • Where might I be avoiding?
  • Where might I need a sense of balance?
  • What does the future look like and feel like where my deepest desires are realized?
  • How can I take steps to realizing this vision?

Grainne weaved a lovely web to create a safe space for all through her use of story-telling, scripture examination, personal reflection and group discussion.

Feedback from attendees was very positive and we hope to have Grainne return to us in Autumn, 2025.
