Synodality – A Reason for Great Hope

The recent synodal gatherings revealed that many Catholics long for a Church

that is more welcoming, inclusive, and co-responsible.

Julieann Moran will share how synodality, is not just a matter of governance or structural changes –

it’s about living out our baptismal calling with joy and purpose to become a community of hope

and a sign of that hope for others.

Julieann Moran is the General Secretary of the Synodal Pathway of the Catholic Church in Ireland.  She was one of the

delegates who presented the Irish contribution at the Continental Stage of the Synod, and was

also a member of the writing team for the further contribution from the Catholic Church in Ireland, which

fed into the second assembly of the Universal Synod in Rome in October.

As part of her work, Julieann has been delivering synodal leadership training to lay women, laymen,

priests, bishops, and religious brothers and sisters across the island of Ireland.

A major part of this training programme has been providing participants with a deeper understanding

of the theology of synodality, practical leadership skills for becoming agents of change in a synodal Church,

dealing with resistance and conflict, and skills for communal discernment.
